News: Dawn sets its sights on Vesta

Launched in September 2007, the Dawn spacecraft is on its way to visit two of the oddest members of the asteroid belt, inbetween Mars and Jupiter. On the 16th July 2011, Dawn will hopefully be inserted into orbit around the asteroid Vesta which it will study until it embarks on another journey to the dwarf planet Ceres, the largest known body in the asteroid belt.

Below is a video taken at the beginning of June showing Dawn’s approach to Vesta.
